Donate to the Rucker Shelter

Sunday, July 1, 2018 - 00:00 to Sunday, August 19, 2018 - 17:00

Works Sunday comes to Embry Rucker Community Shelter near the end of a long, hot, dry summer. It’s a time when the Shelter's resources are depleted, and the flow of donations is low due to folks being on vacation, or scrambling to meet back-to-school needs of their own families.

While the reasons for these shortages are understandable, the needs of the homeless in our community nevertheless remain great. It's a time of year when the Rucker Shelter's clients and staff are stressed by the heat and the scarcity of anything more than basic resources.

It is at this point that Works Sunday mobilizes its volunteers to bring about a miraculous change, gathering items from the community to meet the Shelter's many material needs.  The Rucker Shelter's Wish List for the summer of 2018 appears below.

As a staff member at the Shelter has noted, "[Works Sunday's] efforts see us through these difficult times and remind us—staff and clients--that we are blessed to live in such a caring community."
